Cookie Policy
Last updated: 22 July 2026
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Taloven uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle personal data more broadly.
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember things about your visit, like whether you're signed in or which preferences you've chosen. We also use similar browser storage (such as localStorage) for some of the same purposes - this policy covers both.
2. Cookies we use
We use two categories of cookies. You choose which ones (beyond the essential category) to accept via the cookie banner shown on your first visit.
Strictly necessary
These keep the platform working and cannot be switched off. They don't track you across other sites and don't require consent under UK law.
| Purpose | Set by | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Keeping you signed in | Supabase Auth | Until you sign out, or ~1 week of inactivity |
| Remembering your cookie choice | Taloven (cookieconsent) | 6 months |
| Portfolio draft auto-save while editing | Taloven (browser storage, not a cookie) | Until you save or clear it |
Analytics
These help us understand how people actually use Taloven - which pages get visited, which features get used - so we can improve the product. We only set these after you accept them in the cookie banner.
| Purpose | Set by | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Product usage analytics (e.g. pages viewed, features used) | PostHog (EU cloud) | Up to 1 year |
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We never sell cookie or analytics data to third parties.
3. Third-party cookies
The only third party that may set a cookie on Taloven is PostHog, our analytics provider, and only once you've accepted analytics cookies. PostHog stores all data on EU servers. We don't embed third-party ads, trackers, or social media widgets that set their own cookies.
Public portfolio pages can include embedded YouTube or Vimeo videos if a candidate adds one. Playing an embedded video may cause that provider to set its own cookies, under their own cookie policy, not ours.
4. Managing your preferences
You can change your cookie choice at any time:
- Click "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page to reopen the preferences panel
- Or use your browser's own settings to block or delete cookies - note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the cookies we use change. If we make a material change, we'll show the cookie banner again so you can review your choice. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
